Why don't people understand the difference between Scary movies?

I'm tired of people saying things like "Modern Horror movies just
aren't scary" or "Modern Horror movies are torture porn Garbage".

It's annoying for two reasons.

1: If you think anything pre 21st century is even remotely
frightening... you fail at life, most of them are so cheesy they
should be comedies, not horror films. I fell asleep after watching
"The Exorcist", "The Amityville Horror" and "The Shining"... and the
list goes on..."Psycho", "Jaws", "The Mummy", "Nosferatu" ... for the
love of god those were some of the most boring movies i have ever
watched. Dont get me wrong, the old stuff has its charms, I did enjoy
a lot of the older movies... but they just aren't scary... Im tired of
people listing Nostalgic Garbage in the top 100 scariest movies of all
time lists... its stupid.

2: if you think modern horror movies are torture porn, You're an
idiot. There are more boobs in Candyman than there are in any horror
movies made after 2000 lol

That being said, heres the real issue, The people above dont seem to
understand the clear distinction among movies!!!!

films like the "Saw" franchise or "Hostel" ARE NOT HORROR FILMS. Those
kinds of movies are called "Thrillers" They can be put in the same
category as "Eagle Eye" or "Law abiding Citizen" which have nothing to
do with Horror!!!!!

So accusing all modern horror movies of sucking because of this clear
misunderstanding of genres is like screaming how ignorant and
unintelligent you are to the world...

Modern Horror movies are films like, "The Grudge", "The Ring",
"Paranormal Activity", "The Unborn", "The Fourth Kind" (dude f%k owls
after that movie)

people keep accusing modern horror movies of substituting gore for
plot... well retards lemme tell you something... odds are if there's
that much gore in it... its probably a THRILLER, NOT A HORROR MOVIE...

So here's my question: Why doesn't anyone seem to understand that
thrillers do exactly what theyre made to do... THRILL.... they're
supposed to be just like roller coasters, they take you for one hell
of a ride, but once the rides over (the movie ends) the thrill is
over... Why do people complain about thrillers not being scary? THEY
AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE IDIOTS. Even besides that, any of the saw movies
is 10 times as scary as any of the 1960-1980's nostalgic garbage. So i
I dont even understand how anyone could say that the older stuff is
scarier.... thrillers are much scarier than any horror film pre
90s.... simply because anything pre 90s cannot be scary, its just a
fact... The picture quality sucks too much and the actors dont... act
right... not one actor back then acted like a sane real world person
ACTUALLY would, it just makes movie after movie cheesy and fake
